Intended for close defense, discreet wear and the law enforcement market, it represents the first subcompact pistol developed by CZ in this caliber. Its name, RAMI, is formed from the first names of its two designers: Radek Hauerland and Milan Trkulja.

History and Development of the CZ 2075 RAMI

In the early 2000s, Česká zbrojovka was looking to complete its range of pistols with a subcompact model capable of competing with weapons such as the Glock 26 or the SIG Sauer P239. The aim was to offer a weapon that combined the legendary reliability of the CZ 75 platform with small dimensions for comfortable concealed carry. The development was entrusted to an in-house team led by Radek Hauerland and Milan Trkulja, who were largely inspired by the proven DA/SA (double action / single action) architecture of the CZ 75.

Commercially launched in 2006, the CZ 2075 RAMI was quickly noticed for its exceptional compactness and careful ergonomics despite the reduction in size. CZ immediately offered two main variants — one with manual safety, the other with release — to meet the preferences of different markets. The aluminum alloy construction for the frame and steel for the slide gives it superior robustness to polymer casing guns in the same class.

Technical Specifications

Feature

Specification

Official designation

CZ 2075 RAMI

Country of origin

Czech Republic

Manufacturer

Česká zbrojovka (CZ), Uherský Brod

Years of production

2006 – present

Main Caliber

9 mm Parabellum (9×19 mm)

S&W .40

reciprocating caliber

DA

/SA Action (Dual Action / Single Action)

Overall Length

165 mm (6.5 inches)

Barrel length

76 mm (3 inches)

Height

119 mm (4.7 inches)

Width

32 mm (1.25 inches)

Weight (without charger)

710 g (25 oz)

Charger Capacity (Standard)

10 rounds (9 mm) / 8 rounds (.40 S&W)

Magazine Capacity (Extended)

14 rounds (9 mm)

Casing:

Anodized aluminum alloy

Machined

Steel
Slide

Finish

Matte Black (polycoat)

Fixed

sight and front sight, 3-point light points

Operation and Technical Particularities

The CZ 2075 RAMI uses the tilt-locking recoil borrowing principle (modified Browning system) that characterizes the entire CZ 75 family. This architecture guarantees high reliability, even with high-performance +P ammunition. The trigger is articulated in double-action mode for the first shot — offering increased passive safety — and then in single-action mode for subsequent shots, with significantly reduced resistance (about 10-12 lbs in DA, 4-5 lbs in SA).

The weapon is equipped with a firing-pin block that prevents any accidental blow in the event of an impact. A visible loading window on the slide allows you to check the presence of a cartridge in the chamber. The manual safety device (standard RAMI model) is positioned on the left side of the frame, accessible to the right thumb. The RAMI BD model replaces this safety with a decocker, allowing the dog to be lowered safely without pulling. The aluminum alloy frame design, which is heavier than polymer, helps to absorb vibrations and control recoil despite the reduced size.

Variants and Versions

The CZ 2075 RAMI range includes several variants suitable for different uses. The CZ 2075 RAMI (basic version) is equipped with a manual safety device and an external dog. The CZ 2075 RAMI BD (Decocker) replaces the manual safety device with a release device, which is acclaimed by law enforcement agencies for its increased operational safety. The CZ 2075 D RAMI is another version with a release valve mentioned in official CZ documents. There is also a version in .40 S&W caliber for markets that prefer this caliber, especially North American. Some models are available with dual-capacity magazines (14 rounds in 9 mm), expanding the tactical possibilities without changing the weapon’s footprint. Official accessories such as a Picatinny rail under the barrel (on some versions) allow the mounting of a tactical light.

Users and Armed Forces

The CZ 2075 RAMI has been adopted by several police forces and security agencies in Central and Eastern Europe. The Slovak Police is one of the most notable institutional users, having selected the RAMI for the arming of certain units. Its compactness makes it a preferred choice for plainclothes officers and uniformed police officers who need to be worn discreetly. In the civilian market, the RAMI is particularly successful in North America, Central Europe and countries where legislation allows the discreet carrying of firearms, thanks to its dimensions comparable to those of a Glock 26 with the manufacturing quality and ergonomics characteristic of the CZ brand.

Civil Possession in Switzerland

In Switzerland, the CZ 2075 RAMI in a semi-automatic version is available for purchase from specialist gunsmiths. In accordance with the Federal Weapons Act (Arms Act), the acquisition requires a weapons acquisition permit issued by the competent cantonal authority. The conditions include: being at least 18 years of age, not under general guardianship, and not presenting a reason for refusal within the meaning of Art. 8 para. 2 Firearms Ordinance. Its subcompact size does not imply any additional restrictions compared to standard-sized pistols — it is a firearm subject to the same acquisition rules as any civilian semi-automatic pistol. However, carrying it in public spaces requires a cantonal firearms permit, which is subject to strict conditions.

Conclusion

The CZ 2075 RAMI has established itself as one of the Czech industry’s most successful responses to the challenge of the high-performance subcompact gun. By successfully miniaturizing the proven DA/SA architecture of the CZ 75 family while maintaining a best-in-class finish and reliability, it offers a credible alternative to the dominant polymer subcompact guns. Its robustness, ergonomics and the availability of two safety modes (manual safety or releaser) make it a versatile choice, both for civilians and professionals looking for discretion and efficiency in a compact format.

["post-4584","wiki","type-wiki","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
